Mediation Certification Training

My project involved taking UNIV 4920: Conflict Resolution/Mediation class and at the completion of the course I gained a certificate of mediation that will be attached to my diploma. I took this class through Southern Utah University starting in September of 2016.  The class comprised of two weekend workshops where a the director of the Utah Dispute Resolution will teach the course. She will be teaching us the material needed to complete the training. Along with the lectures, I was required to complete thirty out of classroom experience hours. I completed ten hours of mediation role playing, co-mediation, and outreach to find mediation opportunities and encourage others to take the class. Each section helped me understand a different aspect of mediation.  This project was a great deal of hand’s on work and required initiative and communication.

Goals and Objectives

For my EDGE project I received a mediation course certification through the Conflict Resolution/Mediation UNIV 4920 class through Southern Utah University. I gained specialized knowledge about mediation and conflict resolution. Through this project I have gained the skills to more fully resolve conflict in my own personal and professional relationships along with conflict between other individuals.

 

Upon completion of this course, I gained a certificate in mediation and three credit hours for my bachelor’s degree. I was able to gain specific knowledge about how to facilitate resolution of conflict and the requirements of mediation.
